Red lurked in the dingy,
Dim-lit rooms on rent
Being abused night and day
She was all but spent.
She wept tears nobody saw
And noone heard her cries
People called her a dirty whore
And all her pleas just lies.
Red knew she had to break out
And find herself anew
To belong where she was greeted
And not devoured by the sleazy few...
Her search was long and hard
Noone came to her aid
Whoever she approached for help
They showed her a grimy bed
Then one morning she awoke
And knew something had changed
Somehow the night's machinery
Had her fate rearranged.
She was adorned with such love and care
On a newly wed woman's head
She woke up with a dignity
And a loved one in her bed.
Dim-lit rooms on rent
Being abused night and day
She was all but spent.
She wept tears nobody saw
And noone heard her cries
People called her a dirty whore
And all her pleas just lies.
Red knew she had to break out
And find herself anew
To belong where she was greeted
And not devoured by the sleazy few...
Her search was long and hard
Noone came to her aid
Whoever she approached for help
They showed her a grimy bed
Then one morning she awoke
And knew something had changed
Somehow the night's machinery
Had her fate rearranged.
She was adorned with such love and care
On a newly wed woman's head
She woke up with a dignity
And a loved one in her bed.
